We store your name, postal address, country and email address, so that an original artwork can be posted to you. Your address is encrypted in our database and is never shown on this site, on the map, or on any printed card. It is used for one purpose only: writing an envelope.
You confirm your signup by email, which is also our record that you agreed. If you tick the optional second box, we may also email you when a collection is finished or a card pack is made — that is a separate choice and you can make it without affecting the first.
Every email we send contains a removal link. One click erases your name, address and email for good. We also delete details that have been sitting unused for two years, after asking first.
We store what you type: the town or city, optionally a name or nickname, an optional message and an optional photo. A person reads every check-in before anything appears on the site. We never ask for or publish a street address — the map never goes closer than city level.
There is one optional tick box on that form. It asks whether, if these journeys are ever gathered into a printed book or an exhibition, your message and the name and town you gave may be included. It is off unless you turn it on, checking in works exactly the same without it, and it can be withdrawn at any time by writing to us — you keep the copyright to your own words either way.
No advertising cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts following you, and nothing on this site that profiles you or follows you elsewhere. Like every web server, our host keeps a standard access log, and we may look at it to see roughly how many people visited — as totals, never as individuals. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google. Map tiles come from OpenStreetMap and the place search uses their Nominatim service, so those requests reach OpenStreetMap when you use the map or search for a town.
One cookie, named PHPSESSID. It holds nothing about you — only a random identifier that keeps a form submission secure while you fill it in. It disappears when you close the browser. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing here to consent to: no tracking, no advertising, no profiling.
You can ask what we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted — write to hello@littletravellers.art and we will answer. If you are in the EU and think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority; in Finland that is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman.
